Income Producing Gift

Income Producing Gift

Dr. Robert (Bob) Patton came to ETSU in 1964 in the Department of Health Education, staying until he retired in 1995 as a full professor after a commendable service that included 11 years as the Chair of the Department. Dr. Patton wanted to give back in a big way to the University that has offered him so much. His planned gift allows him the opportunity to donate yet still receive income from his gift. "The tax benefit is helpful and I have the satisfaction of receiving credit for helping ETSU while I am still living."

"The State no longer supports higher education as it did in the past. Planned gifts help the University go beyond the basic offerings from State support and add programs and services that make for an outstanding University – especially in certain areas."

Knowing that he will still be having an influence at ETSU after he has passed is a good thought for Dr. Patton. "I especially enjoyed teaching and my personal education experiences and want young people to have the same opportunity."
